Aunque definir la palabra hipster es muy mainstream, todos tenemos una noción de su signficado. Según Urban Dictionary - la RAE de jergas y coloquialismos en inglés - un hipster es alguien que escucha bandas de las que nunca has oído hablar, usa polos vintage o comprados de segunda mano con mensajes irónicos, y se cree mejor que tú. En este sentido, en cuestiones musicales, un hipster desconoce muchas canciones que están de moda por escuchar canciones "caletas", lo cual lo hace sentir diferente al común denominador y ser visto como un "bicho raro" del cual se siente orgulloso.
